Drakensberg Hike

Camping @ Monks Cowl

Our first hike at the Drakensberg was at Monks Cowl, where a camping site lies just at the start of the hikes. We left for our hike after noon, even it had at least 35 degrees. Our chosen route was leading us into a gorge and to Nandi waterfall.

Flowers of the Day

In the end, we didn’t reach the waterfall, but took a path back to our campsite. It was just too hot for hiking and we had seen dark clouds of smoke coming from the area where our car was parked. Worrying a little if our camper had gone up in flames, we were not relaxed enough to go further into the valley.

The next morning, the temperates had dropped by 20 degrees, and it was raining. Hopefully it will change that quickly to a nice weather again, so we can do more hikes.
