Travel Route 2020

On December 28th 2019 we had arrived back to Athens and were heading to Turkey, turning around at Alanya (our most eastern point so far) about  500 km west of the Syrian Border. We turned inland to go back to Greece, which we crossed to Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo and back to Albania to go north into Montenegro and Croatia. We crossed the border to Hungary beginning  of March planning a short stop for technical checks in Vienna and Bavaria.

But then we were stopped by the CORONA virus in Austria, all borders were closed. We were waiting, like all the world, for the time after. Finally at the beginning of June the borders in Europe reopened step by step. We started with exploring Germany, visited our son in the Netherlands, crossed Germany in the North, the Baltic Sea shore of Poland including Masuria before we reached the Baltic States.

At the end of August, we took the ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki and started to explore Finland, going North to reach the North Cape on the 25th of September. From there we turned around, going South along the coast of Norway. On November 23rd, we crossed the border to Sweden. After driving through Denmark and Germany, we arrived in Utrecht/Netherlands on the 6th of December to visit our son Monty. Finally, we reached Vienna on Dec. 12th to celebrate Christmas (during lockdown with closed restaurants and nighttime curfews) with our family!

December, 10th 2020

We are happy, we could visit so many countries during 2020, which for sure was a difficult year for travelling. We had no problems to cross any borders and never had to make a PCR test or go into quarantine. Somehow we always came at the right time or from the right country.

All our plans for the next year had to be cancelled, and we are waiting what will be possible in 2021.
