Desert views

We drove inland, in the direction of the Rub’ al Khali, the desert called “The Empty Quarter” to enjoy a little bit of solitude in the sand after the busy cities at the coast.

Finally back to the tar road

We were mesmerised by the colours of the sand and the shapes the wind creates. But we also came past the Liwa Oasis with its date farms and visited the Moreeb Dune, a 300 metres high dune which is the playground for motorized Emiratis. We thought maybe there would be some action, as it was a holiday week, but the place was completely deserted.

Sure that we will see much more sand on our trip through Saudi Arabia, we left the area again until we reached the coast, where we spent a day at the beach to get sorted before leaving the country.
