Sotavento

21 years ago, we had spent a short holiday at this hotel, which still is the only one at the endless beach of Sotavento. This time, we were able to park our camper well away from the hotel, with only a few other campers, directly at the cliff above the incredible lagoon.

The lagoon is very attractive to shorebirds. We spotted Little Egrets, Grey Heron, Spoonbill, Sanderling, Kentish Plover, Great Grey Shrike and even an Osprey trying to catch fish.

The weather had been perfect, as we had no wind at all. The kite surfers were getting bored, but we enjoyed it a lot. We actually stayed longer than intended, but finally had to leave this fantastic spot as we had arranged to meet friends and family at Lanzarote.

We will drive through the middle of the island and explore the north, but we will be coming back to this location if we can. More soon!
