Route to Tafraoute

After we had left our spot near the petroglyphs, we drove into Tata and from there continued west along the N7. Last time we had used a track from Pistenkuh.de, which took us through the Mansour Gorge. This time we opted for a route further north through the mountains, and it was at least as spectacular.

At the top of the mountains, it was very windy and cold, but the R106 led us through fascinating landscapes, and we enjoyed the drive a lot. On the other side, we were descending into the region of the Ammeln, a Berber tribe, with Tafraoute as their centre.

After arriving in Tafraoute we stopped directly at the garage, which repairs camper cabins. We could park behind their shop, and they immediately started to repair all the damages we had inflicted on our cabin during the last 8 years.

Chez Ali, who repairs any damage to your cabin very professionally!

We stayed here for 2 nights until the new paint was dry. Being in a little town, with many cafés, restaurants and shops around us was great for a change. The only drawback was our proximity to the mosque. The muezzin had good speakers and a loud voice. Every time he started his calls, we jumped.

Office

The work on our camper was done very professionally, and we were very happy with the result. We then moved to the area for the campers, which was quite empty at the moment. In February, there were hundreds of campers parked here. Nezha, the lady which had provided us with great food last time, came past, and we decided to stay longer and ordered couscous with vegetables and sausages. Again a treat.

From here we will go to Guelmim for some grids for the Ham Radio Community, but our next destination is Sidi Ifni, which we had only passed in February. More soon!
