As we had removed the trailer hitch because we did not need it in normal travelling, we had also lost the rear tow hook. Therefore, we needed a simple solution for recovery situations.
In our workshop, we found the original hook for the steel rope of our WARN winch, which is not in use because of the installed nylon rope on our camper.
The idea was to find an anchor point for this hook, to use it at the rear end of the camper. After a short inspection of the existing body structure, we decided to use the same point the original hitch was mounted. We just needed to extend an existing hole from 10 to 13 millimetres. Easy job, easily done!
We now can apply the hook either left or right, depending on the situation. In normal operation, the hook is removed. When going off-road, it is easy to apply in advance.
