Morocco – going east

Omani goes to Africa
passing Gibraltar

First we had booked a ferry for the afternoon (to avoid high waves), then the ferry had at least 1-hour delay, therefore it was already getting dark when we left the harbour in Tanger Med. But we found a good spot at the beach in the village nearby.

The next day, we drove inland, past Tétouan and to the coast, where we found a great “campsite”, the River House Camp in Oued Laou. We parked in front of the house of a lovely family, directly at a lagoon with birds. Here, the first HAM Radio grid was activated.

After 2 relaxing days at the lagoon, we continued along the mountainous coast, going up and down. We stopped at a restaurant with great views for lunch, the only place we noticed along our route, but it came at the right time.

Afterwards we continued until we reached Al Hoceïma. Cordy’s parents spent their honeymoon here in 1965. Much has changed since then.

We spent a very quiet night at the outskirts of town, above the lovely coast, where Edi activated the second grid.

Parking for the Night

The next morning, we found water, an ATM, a veggie stall and a little supermarket. Now we were set for going inland.

We will be driving south now. More soon!
