Mirador de Abrante

One of the spectacular places at La Gomera is the Mirador de Abrante, a glass platform 600 metres above Agulo, standing out from the wall of rocks surrounding the village. We had decided to take the old path which leads straight up through the wall to get there. From below, we couldn’t imagine that there could be any path.

Mirador de Abrante – our goal

The path is on old route called Camino de los Pasos, which first leads straight up until the wall of rocks started. It then snaked in little bends built into the wall further up and finally led to the left into a valley and further up on a less exposed path until we reached the lookout.

The top of the mountain was formed by erosion and we hiked suddenly over red sand instead of rocks.

The path down was more comfortable but in parts also steep

When we had made it back to Agulo in only 3 hours, we relaxed at the Bar “La Vieja Escuela” before we had a quick shower in our camper. Afterwards we just drove around the cliffs to a beach were we spent the rest of the day.

Playa Hermigua

Tomorrow we want to visit Hermigua, before we make our way back to the port of San Sebastian. More soon!
