Huelva to Vienna

From Huelva, where we had arrived from Gran Canaria, we didn’t rush home, but made some lovely stops on our route.

In Spain, we visited Osuna where we watched the preparation for the Easter processions.

In Antequera, we went to one of our favourite restaurants: Arte de Cozina, always a special treat!

Next, we drove rapidly to Jávea, where we met Cordy’s parents again. Besides of enjoying our second home town, we also got a repair on our car done at the Mercedes garage in Gandía and visited friends in El Campello. We both needed new glasses, which we got rapidly done at Seepoint Optics.

On the way north, we only stopped in San Sadurní d’Anoia, in the cava region of Spain, to buy some of this delicious treat. Soon we were in France and only stopped for the night, first in St. Gilles and then near Toulon.

Crossing the border to Italy, we made it to Sanremo, where our favourite ice cream parlour is located.

Continuing along the coast of Liguria, we finally had to drive inland, where we visited Piacenza, before we found a lovely spot at the river Po for the night.

The next day, we visited Mantua, a town with strong historic connections to Austria. We visited the vast Palazzo Ducale and strolled through the town.

We continued in the late afternoon and made it to a perfect camper parking close to Venice. A ferry boat was taking us into the city the next day, and we spent it wandering around this fascinating place.

We decided to travel through Slovenia and after a night in a small village, we visited the fascination cave castle of Predjama.

Nearby, we explored the river Rak, which traverses caves carved into the karst by its water over centuries.

We found an abandoned manor house where we parked for the night.

The next day, we visited lovely Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.

We continued over small roads without toll fees in direction to the Austrian border, which we reached the next day near Eibiswald. Our first stop was at the butcher of the village to enjoy Leberkäs’ in a roll, a typical Austrian treat which we have graved for.

We did a little hike and used a free camper parking for the night, before we reached a beautiful region called Joglland in Styria, where we visited friends.

The next day, we kept to toll-free roads again and reached finally our hometown near Vienna.

Now the preparations for South America start. Watch out for our next post from South America!
