We had visited Óbidos before, but a visit to DXPatrol was on the plan. This Portuguese company provided Edi with the equipment to do radio communication via satellite. Antonio, the owner of DXPatrol was so kind to check the setting for us, and together they did a test call.

But we also went to visit the little town of Óbidos, which has a big, free parking next to the historic centre, which makes it easy for campers to come here. There are many lovely shops, especially libraries, and restaurants to enjoy, and many tourists flock through the alleys.

We visited a bakery, where delicious treats were coming out of the wood fired oven. Some of their sweets were ideal to pair with the local speciality called Ginja, a sour cherry liqueur.

Near Óbidos starts a lovely lagoon, which leads to the coast at Foz do Arelho. We spent 3 nights there at the camper site directly at the lagoon and a short walk from the sea. One day the fog was coming in from the Atlantic Ocean, but in general we had great weather.

But finally, we decided to leave this wonderful place and continued to travel further south – more next!
