Canoeing Utrecht & the Botanical Garden

Today felt like mothers day to me. First Monty took me on his bike to the botanical garden and in the afternoon we went kayaking at the Kromme Rijn.

Monty picked me up with his inflatable kayak on the back of his bike and we drove to the river Kromme Rijn, one of the many arms of the Rhein.

Kayaking through a park-like forest just outside of Utrecht
Nice estates along the river

But before we went to the water, we visited the Botanical Garden of the University of Utrecht which was first founded in 1639 but now is situated at the Science Park on the outskirts of town where the University acquired the land at Fort Hofddijk, one of the forts of the New Dutch Waterline.
More than 2100 t of rocks were laid on top of the fort in order to build the new rock garden, which has become one of the largest in Europe.

Many flowers and one butterfly today 😉

What a great day! Thank you, Monty!!
