We spent a couple of days at the Neusiedlersee south of Vienna, which is a great area for cycling and hiking. On one of our tours this beautiful grass snake crossed our path.

From Weiden we went on a hike which led us to a little church on a hill in Neusiedl, from where the view over the lake was terrific. Our route continued along the hills with vineyards back to Weiden.
As the restaurants were allowed to open again, we made a reservation at the “Blue Goose” in Weiden (Zur blauen Gans), where we enjoyed a delicious vegetarian menu. Nice to be able to go out and have lunch or dinner again. Something I don’t need permanently but which makes a nice change, especially as it wasn’t possible for 2 months.
We spent the night in Purbach, where a small channel leads a couple of kilometres from the harbour through the reed before the open lake starts. Many frogs and toads living in the reed provided a concert at night.
