Around the Netherlands: Zeeland – Rotterdam

94 km

In the morning we took the bikes to visit the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier, which was only  a short ride from the caravan park. We cycled along the barrier until we reached an interesting lock, before we turn around and cycled back home.

We left the Kamperland caravan park and drove north over the Delta Work barriers until we reached Rotterdam. We decided to stay at a camping ground not far from the center: Stadscamping Rotterdam, that we can cycle into the city when ever we want.

Another option would have been to use the Camper Park near Kinderdijk and take the Waterbus into town.

Rotterdam train station

We rode into town, past the new train station, which is very impressive and into an area with a lot of restaurants. We had dinner at Restaurant Bazar which has a good range of vegetarian dishes, very jummy !

After dinner, we cycled around the center past Erasmus bridge and through nice green areas back to the camping.

Our first impression of Rotterdam was much better than we had expected. It’s a very clean and green city with a lot of space and amazing modern buildings.
