Claramunt is one of the many abandoned villages you can find around Spain. A gravel road leads up the mountain to this village. From there we continued over the mountains with great views until we reached the next valley.

A colony of Griffon Vultures was waiting for the fog to lift and the thermic conditions to improve when we drove past. Later, we watched them circling over the village to reach enough altitude until the left the area to look out for dead animals.

Today, the remaining buildings are used as stable for the sheep and goats. The inhabitants of this village probably moved long ago to a village in the valley, where live is more comfortable.

The heavy rains which had devastated parts of Spain not long ago, hadn’t hit this area very hard, but it was still visible.

Edi was testing the smaller car with better off-road abilities. This road was in general easy, only some washed out hairpins were interesting.

We reached Aréns, where we will spend the night. Tomorrow we want to drive a more difficult route, how that turned out next.
Thank you so much for the updates.
Love travelling with you.
